Part of Loop 101 is going to get wider. Here’s where and what to know
The Arizona Department of Transportation will be hosting a meeting next week to present details about its soon-to-launch project of widening Loop 101 between Interstate 17 and 75th Avenue.
The meeting will provide information on the planned addition of a new lane in each direction and other improvements.
Work is scheduled to start Sept. 27 and expected to take two-and-a-half years to complete.

To improve traffic flow, the project will also add a third southbound left turn lane on 75th Avenue for traffic entering the eastbound freeway.
The project will involve crews widening several bridges, reconstruction of on- and off-ramps, resurfacing the freeway’s pavement and improving the ramp connecting westbound Loop 101 to northbound I-17.
During construction, individual on- or off-ramps will be closed for about 60 days while crews rebuild them to fit with the wider freeway. The project team will make accommodations for drivers to access businesses and residences.
The public meeting was scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Foothills Recreation and Aquatic Center in Glendale.
